Yorkshire is the Anorak's first home so there will always be a special
place in the heart for it. The county is so big it was split into
three Ridings (or thirds) with the county town of York at its
centre. The countryside ranges from rolling hills to dramatic
cliffs to flat land in the Vale of York and the towns and cities are as
varied as the people that live there. The soaring gothic beauty of
York, the dramatic steel-souled Sheffield and the Georgian elegance of
spa towns like Scarborough and Harrogate.
