BIRMINGHAM TOYS
Key facts
By the middle of the 18th century
Birmingham was becoming known for the
vast numbers of small metal items that it produced. Buttons, buckles,
snuff boxes, candlesticks and snuffers, etui, corkscrews, watch chains
and all kind of other small items were made in gold, silver or even the
‘new’ metal steel. Collectively these things were known as
Birmingham toys.
